Coaching Experience

  • International Olympic Committee, 2009. Spent 5 months in the Federated States of Micronesia helping to build the sport of wrestling alongside the FSM National Olympic Committee. Organized practices, built interest in the sport, trained wrestlers of all ages, and hosted competitions in each of the 4 island states (Yap, Pohnpei, Chuuk, Kosrae).
  • Have helped coach and train numerous top MMA fighters including; BJ Penn, Rashaad Evans, Mo Lawal, Kendall Grove, Bobby Lashley, Joe Warren, Jake Ellenberger, Nate Marquardt, Jonathan Brookins, and Brett Rogers.
  • Team Okinawa Cadet & Junior National Teams, 2005-2006. Organized a team of military dependants (high school-aged) living in Japan to train for, and compete in, the U.S. Age Group National Championships. First time a U.S. Military installation on foreign soil was represented in the most prestigious age-group wrestling tournament in the U.S.
  • Armed Forces Dependant’s Cadet & Junior National Teams, 2007-current. Organized travel, housing, and training for over a dozen high school-aged wrestlers stationed overseas to compete in the U.S. Age Group National Championships. What started as Team Okinawa had rapidly grown to a representation of military dependants living in Asia, Europe, and the U.S. combined. In 2008 was unable to organize a team due to military obligations.
  • MN Storm Cadet & Junior National Teams, 1999-current. Instructor, counselor, and driver in charge of training Minnesota’s top high school wrestlers for a two week period leading up to the U.S. Age Group National Championships. Coached and cornered numerous wrestlers to All-American status, and several to being crowned National Champions.
  • Ambition Training Academy, 2009-current. Was selected as the Director of Wrestling. In charge of setting up training schedules, organizing camps, and instruction of wrestling for wrestlers and Mixed-Martial Artists of all ages.
  • J Robinson’s Intensive Wrestling Camps, 1999. Was an instructor and camp counselor for several thousand high school-aged wrestlers at various camps in Minnesota, Iowa, and Pennsylvania. During the Iowa portion of the camp was voted as the top counselor by the campers.
  • Screaming Eagles Wrestling Club, 1999. Coached wrestlers from ages 4-18 in the summer wrestling program for Champlain Park High School as a freshman at the University of Minnesota; Was in charge of organizing warm-ups, showing technique, and cornering young wrestlers during matches.
  • U.S. Marine Corps Recruiting Command, 1999-2008. Assisted recruiting efforts by running wrestling seminars and speaking at assemblies about the opportunities available by the U.S. Marine Corps (Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, North Dakota, Illinois, Missouri, Texas, California, Washington, Oregon, Arizona, Hawaii, Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts).
